Background

I am Eevastiina Gjerstad, a power coach and power whisperer. I work with individuals, communities, and organizations to help them use power wisely and effectively and avoid its abuse. The tools I use to achieve this include power-related coaching, training, consultation, brainstorming, development and research services, and operating as a power advisor.

I am a Doctor of Education and an ethicist. My doctoral thesis dealt with the power existing between parents and their children. I have written non-fiction books on the psychology of influence (Näin vaikutat – Vaikuttamisen psykologia arjessa ja työssä [How to Influence: The Psychology of Influence in Everyday Life and Work], Docendo 2015) and on the power relations between adults and children (Kuka on kukkulan kuningas? Aikuisten ja lasten väliset valtasuhteet kasvun tukena [Who is the King of the Hill? Adult-Children Power Relations in Support of Growth], PS-kustannus, 2015). I am currently writing a book on the power and status dynamics between people.

Between 2011 and 2019, my company, Gloriosus, provided coaching and training. I trained upper and middle management team members, experts, shop stewards, organizational operators, civil servants, and students on the psychology of power and influence, power dynamics, and the ethics of human work. I have also researched violence, self-harm, team and group interaction, and safety.

In early 2024, I refocused my business strategy and changed the name of my company to focus on the theme of power. My company, Vallan viisas, focuses on the themes of power and influence and, to my knowledge, is the only business in Finland to do so. I am also offering more services related to the ethics of power and the positive and wise uses of power. I mainly operate in Finland, but you can order my services in other Nordic countries and for English-speaking environments.
